Step 1. Warm-up

Watch a video about A Bite of China.

(T:Before our study, I want to show you a video. After the video, you need to tell me what is in the video? OK, let’s watch together.

T: What did you see in the video? Who can tell me?

T: Well, this is a famous TV program about Chinese food. Do you know? Yes, A Bite of China. From the video, we can see that people in different places eat different food. And that’s what we will learn today. Food and lifestyle.)

Step 2 Presentation

(T: First, we will learn some new words about food. Now, please look at the computer and guess what it is. If you know the answer, please raise your hand, OK?)

Show some pictures of food and learn the new words together. (Show some part of a picture first, ask ss to guess what is in the picture and then show the whole picture.)

Remind ss of the plural form of words and tell them which are countable nouns and which are uncountable nouns.

(T: OK, here are the new words, you must have noticed that sometimes we add an “s” or “es” after a word, for example :”sweets”, but sometimes we don’t. For example, beef. Do you know why? In English, we have two kinds of nouns, one is countable noun, and the other is uncountable noun. Now please open your books and turn to page 69, look at part A, I will read the words, if it is a countable noun, then you say yes, if not, you say no.)

(T: Now everyone, please look at the computer. On the left are the countable nouns, and on the right are uncountable nouns. Let’s read these words together.)

Step 3 Practice

(T: OK, wonderful. Now I will give you 3 minutes, try to spell these words, and then we will play a word game.

T: OK, time is up. Close your books. Now, everyone, listen carefully. I will show you some pictures. When you see a picture, you need to speak out the word first then spell it. For example, tomatoes, T O M A T O E S.)

Play a small word game with ss: give them 3 minutes to memorize the new words and then see who can speak out all the words according to the pictures in the shortest time.
