1.Watch a video

Watch a video and know more about how Chinese people in different countries celebrate Chinese New Year.

2.Read a poster

Read a poster carefully and find out celebrations of the Chinese New Year by Chinese people in New York. Get more key information from the poster, such as time, place and activities.

3. Listen and finish a table

(1) Read the table first and know that we aim to listen for time and places of some Chinese New Year celebrations.

(2) Listen and complete the table in A2 with exact time and places. Check the answers and make sure the students can write down the names of places correctly.

4. Complete a postcard

(1) Observe the form of the postcard in A3 and find out the sender and receiver.

(2) Help Wendy finish her postcard with the given information in the poster and key points from listening.

(3) Ask all the students to read the postcard together aloud.

(4) Let the students pay attention to the words and phrases linking different activities together, such as first, then, at night, after that.

(5) Try to retell a series of activities to celebrate Chinese New Year with the help of pictures and phrases, including the linking words and phrases.
