Teaching procedures:
Step 1. Lead-in
Introduce the topic of sports by showing a football to the students .
Show the names of the sports in a video and teach the students to read them.
Talk about students’ favourite sports. Use the expressions and sentence patterns:
What’s your favourite sport?/What sport do you like/love/enjoy/are you good at?
How often do you...?....
Comic strip
Step 2. Presentation
Show students the picture of Eddie and Hobo, and then ask:
What’s in Hobo’s hand?
What about Eddie? What’s his favourite sport?
Play the video of comic strip and then ask:
What sport does Eddie like?
Does Eddie really like this sport?
Step 3. Practice
Talk about Eddie’s lifestyle and encourage students to give him some advice on exercising.

Step 4. Presentation
Show the pictures of the new students in Class 1,Grade 7 at Sunshine Middle School and then ask the students to look at the pictures in Part A and ask:
Do you know what sports they like?
Ask the students to complete the sentences with the words in the box in Part A on page 19.
Check the answers.
Ask the students to listen to the conversation between Amy and Simon.
Ask and answer questions in pairs.
What does Amy like?
What’s Simon’s favourite sport?
When does he often play football?
