Step 1 Presentation
5 students act out a play to ask people to protect the Tibetan Antelopes.
Step 2 Leading in.
1. Tell the students that some people kill animals for money and make the students know “no sell no killing”.
2. Have the students read a map of endangered animals and ask them to name the animals.
3. Show the students some pictures of giant pandas and have them talk something about them and help the students learn the new words and phrases.
Step 3 Pre-reading
1. Quiz time: students finish the exercise in Part A.
2. Students skim the pictures, the title, the introduction and the sub-headings of the article on page 67, then answer the questions below.

Step 4 While-reading
1. Students read the Strategy on Page 69 and tell “what is called scanning?”
2. Students scan the passage on Page 67 and finish Part B on Page 66 in 2mins, then check the answers.
3. Students read the passage on Page 67 after the recording and finish Part D1 on Page 69 in 3mins, then check the answers.
Step 5 Post-reading
1. Students read L27-34 of the passage on Page 67 carefully and tell “Why are giant pandas endangered?”
2. Discussion: What can we do to save giant pandas?
Step 6 homework
1. Recite L1 to L6.
2. Finish the relative exercises in EW.
3. Surf the internet and know more things about the giant pandas.
