Teaching process:

Step 1 Warm-up

Revise different kinds of pets, such as mouse, monkey, dog, parrot, pig and so on.

Show some pictures of different pets.

Play some listening practice. Play a guessing game.

Show a riddle about dogs.

Step2 Lead-in

Group discussion

Show a picture of goldfish. Guess what pets they are? (Goldfish)

Encourage the students to talk about them in English.

1.What colours are goldfish?

2.What food do they eat?

3.Where do they live?

4.How much are goldfish?

5.Is a goldfish large or small? How big can it grow?

6.How can we look after goldfish?

Step3 Presentation

Part A1, Page 99.

Peter wants to know more about goldfish, so he searched the Internet for more. He listened to a talk about goldfish.

Give some listening tips:

A: Judge the information first. Encourage the students to guess.

1.Can you put a goldfish in the sun?

2.Can you pick them up with your hands?

3.Does it need special food?

4.Are they very expensive?......

Pay attention to the key words.

Listen to the tape and do T/F questions.

Listen again and correct the sentences if possible.

Check the answers with the whole class. If the students have problems, listen again to the relevant information.
