IV Teaching aids:

V Teaching procedures:

Step1: Get to know each other

Greet to the students and introduce myself to them. Invite them to introduce and get to know each other. Learn the new words in a situation. Provide them an easy recommendation letter model orally.

Step2: Daniel's message

Daniel wants to get an award and send us a message. He shows us some pictures and hopes us can recommend him for this year's young star award. The pictures are broken, students help the teacher find out what Daniel is doing in the picture.

Step3: Listen and answer questions:

Listen to the recommendation letter and answer the following questions:

1. Which award should Daniel get?

2. What happened to the child?

3. Who wrote the letter?

Step4: Why did Mr Wu recommend Daniel?

1. Read the letter and fill in the blanks

2. Show students more words about ability/ personality/ activity.

3. Ask students to describe classmates using the provided words.

Step5: The structure of a recommendation letter.

1. Paragraph 1 tells who I would like to recommend Paragraph 2 ability + example Paragraph 3 personality + example Paragraph 4 what he / she did Paragraph 5 hopes my classmate can get an award 2. Writing tips:

Write some examples to make your writing persuasive (有说服力)

Main body should include different points to help people know the man better.

Express in different ways to make your article unique.

Step6: Group work: Recommend for the most popular student award.

1. Discuss in groups of four and find out the right person.

2. Read some useful expressions.

3. Writing time: Write a recommendation letter.

Step7: Show time.

Show the students one or two articles provided by classmates and appraise the articles.
