学生为本校八年级8班的学生，学习基础在全级靠后。平时对于文章没有进行深度思考的习惯，因此在拓展阅读部分对教师的问题思考方面还有所欠缺。但学生平时上课较为活跃，对于老师的指令的理解能力较强。
四、教学目标
在本课结束时，学生能够：
语言能力：掌握找读（scanning）的阅读策略，从文中快速地获取信息，了解大熊猫的分布、外形特征、习性、饮食习惯、未来前景的等情况。
思维品质：结合获取的信息与自身所识，通过分析和归纳，提出更好的保护动物、保护环境的方法。通过补充课后拓展阅读，告知学生由于时限性因素，WWF在2016年公布大熊猫已经从濒危动物变成易危动物了（我们现在使用的教材是2012年编写的）。让学生接受最新的资讯，从而提高批判性思维品质。
文化品格：通过阅读两篇文章，了解说明文的特点和写作方法。
学习能力：结合本课中思考到的保护动物、保护环境的对策，课后利用图书馆或网络上的学习资料，搜索更多关于濒危物种的信息，写一封信给成都大熊猫基地，为保护大熊猫出谋献策。
五、教学重难点
1、运用找读（scanning）的阅读策略，了解大熊猫的分布、外形特征、习性、饮食习惯、未来前景的等信息。
2、了解说明文的特点和写作方法。
3、通过小组合作，分析和归纳出大熊猫处于濒危的原因和对策。
