1.Review: Last class we have learned about a piece of news.
(Present the picture and ask Ss to say something about its name and the name of the newspaper.)
2.T: Can you remember the story well? I have six questions. Today we’ll go through the questions one by one.
Step 2. Presentation and practice
Who:
T: Who were in the story? How old are they?
People
Age
Ask students to fill in the blanks and present the text on PPT.
T: Lin Tao is only 20 years old. He is really young. What about Mrs Sun? (old) What happened to her? (Her left leg was badly hurt and she could not get out)
Mrs Sun is _____ _____ _____ and she hurt her leg _______.
Ask students to fill in the blanks. Distinguish “79-year-old” from “79 years old”.
What:
T: What happened between Lin Tao and Mrs Sun?
Lin Tao, a ______________ young man saved his ____________ neighbor from a fire.
Ask students to finish the sentence with ages.
(让学生活学活用)
When:
T: When did the story happen? (On 10 May)
Where:
T: Where was Lin Tao at that moment? (Lin Tao was at home.) Was there anybody else at his home?
Present: alone= by oneself= on one’s own
Ask students to paraphrase the sentence “Lin Tao was at home alone”.
T: What about Mrs Sun? Was there anyone else at her house?
