Teaching procedures
Step1: Lead- in
1.Say:Do you like animals? What animals do you know? Lead Ss to say out names of some animals.
Purpose
Use a mind map to help students to brainstorm about the topic they’ll learn.
Step2: Presentation
1.Watch a video about some animals such as a parrot, a goldfish, a mouse and a cat. Communicate with Ss: What’s this? Do you like it? Why or why not? Write?parrot?goldfish?mouse?on the Bb at the same time.
2 Ask Ss to practice in pairs. Make sure they can
Purpose
Arouse the students’ interest by watching a video about some lovely animals.
pronounce them and understand their Chinese meanings.
3.Explain Part A and ask Ss to look at the parts of the pictures and write the names of the animals under them.
Purpose
Help and encourage Ss to say out the reason.
Step3: Presentation
Say: If you like an animal very much, you can keep it as a pet. Write?pet?on the Bb. Show a picture of my dog, and say: This is my pet dog. I like it very much because I can play with him. What kind of animal do you want to keep as a pet? For example: I like rabbits. I think they’re lovely. I can feed them carrots. Encourage Ss to speak to stimulate interest in learning.
Step4: Practice
1.Ask Ss to complete Part B and read the sentences one by one.
2. Show some pictures, such as a parrot、a goldfish、a mouse and a cat. Communicate with Ss like this:
What’s this? It’s….I like it very much….What about you? I like….
3.Which pet would you like to have? Why? Please discuss the topic in groups of four and report your answers to the class.
Purpose
Get the students to be more focused on pets and imperative sentences.
Encourage the students to add their own ideas to the conversation, and use body language and facial expressions to make the conversation more vivid and appealing.
Consolidate what they have learnt in class and learn more about animals.
