Step 1 Lead-in

Look and answer.

T: Look at the pictures. Can you tell me some amazing things on these pictures?

S: Yes.

Ants can smell things as well as dogs can .

Camels can live without water for a long time.

A tortoise can live up to 150 years old.

There are no bones in the back of elephants’ feet.

Fish sleep with their eyes open .

Goldfish don’t know what happened to them 3 seconds ago .

Step 2 Presentation

T: There are many other lovely animals in the world. We can raise them as pets. Let’s play a guessing game about pets.

Mice: It is very small and soft./We can hold it in our hands./It often goes out at night./It is afraid of seeing cats.

Blank filling: I like mice because they are small and soft and I can hold it in my hand.

Cats: It likes playing with balls./It likes fish best./It miaows when it feels hungry./It can sleep on my knees.

Blank filling: I like cats because they can sleep on my knees.

Dogs: It is friendly to people./Its favourite food is bones（骨头）./When it sees somebody strange , it will bark. /I can play with it in the park.

My daughter likes to play with her dog. She walks it in the park every day and teaches it to do some tricks.

Blank filling: I like my dog because I can play with it in the park .

I can walk my dog in the park .I can take my dog for a walk in the park .

Rabbits : It looks lovely and cute . /It likes eating carrots ./Its eyes are red ./It has long ears .

Goldfish: It can’t live without water./It sleeps with its eyes open./I like watching them swim around.

Blank filling: I like goldfish because I like watching them swim around. I like feeding the goldfish something to eat.

Parrots: It is very clever./It has colourful feathers./It can sing./You can teach it to speak.
