Step1.lead-in
Watching a video of the animal world.
Ask:Do you like animals?What animals do you know?
Ask Ss to say animals as more as possible
Step2.Presentation
1.The teacher presents some pictures of the animals and have Ss say the names
2.The teacher tells Ss her own favourite pet(dog) and say the reason:
T:I want to keep it as a pet because I can play with it.
3.Ask Ss to say something about their favourite pets in pairs:
“ What kind of animal do you want to keep as a pet?Why?”
Useful expressions:
It can sing.
It is small and soft.
They’re smart and lovely.
It often sleeps in the box.
I like watching them awim around.
I can teach it to speak.
It has long ears.
Step3.Comic strip
1.T:We have our favourite pets.What about Eddie?Does Eddie have a pet?
Does he like It?Why?
2.Have Ss listen to the conversation and answer some questions:
Questions: What time is it?
What does Eddie want Hobo to do?
Is Hobo happy?Why?
Why does Eddie want a new pet?
3.Listen to the tape again and Ss read after it.
4. Invite some pairs to act it out if possible.
Step4.Playing a game
Showsome pictures of the animals and have Ss guess
