Teacher and students talk about their favourite pets and the brainstorm something about dogs. eg. run after a ball, fight with each other.
Listen and choose
Listen to the tape and try to choose the correct sentences about two pets.
Step 3. While – reading
Read and answer
(1). What does the writer think of his dog?
(2). Does the dog just run after a ball?
(3). Does he do wonderful tricks?
(4). Will the writer look after him till the end? Why?

PS: Words rhyme if the last syllables(音节) make the same or similar(相似的)sound.
“all” rhymes with “ball”.
“wide” rhymes with “hide”.
“tricks” rhymes with “sticks”.
“bite” rhymes with “fight”.
“friend” rhymes with “end”.
Read after the tape.
Let students read the first poem after the tape sentence by sentence.
