Tell students that I have received a letter from WWF, then explain what WWF is.

The purpose of my design: (1) to catch students’ attention and arouse their interests.

(2) to liven up the lesson and lead in the topic-----endangered animals.

Step 2: Watch a video: 3 minutes

Show students a video about the information of the Asia elephant, and ask them some questions.

The purpose of my design: (1) to impress students the endangered animals by a conversation between two students.

Step 3: analyze: 4 minutes

Analyze a fact file with the six points about the endangered animals, and draw a mind map on the blackboard.

The purpose of my design: (1) Enable students to grasp the main six aspects of describing an endangered animal from the video and the information they find on the Internet.

(2)Meanwhile, it is an excellent way to examine if students had a good command of the words they had learned from the class and the video.

Step 4: Focused writing: 15 minutes

Give students examples about describing an endangered animals and give out the detail information about how to write. After showing them the example of the first two parts of the speech, they should work in groups and finish their parts on the handout with the information they searched online.

The purpose of my design: this section aims at training students’ ability of picking up the important details they need to use in their sentences and they should learn more from group work.

Step 5: From phrases to sentences 10 minutes

Students write down their whole speech clearly and fast on the handout. They should work in groups and help each other.

The purpose of my design: They have the ability to write their own sentences after more details have given, group work is needed because some of them may meet some difficult sentences that they can’t express.

Step 6: Show time 7 minutes

Anyone can come to the front to read his speech out and share with us. Studetns can find out the mistakes and teachers can help correct them.
