教学过程：
Step 1 阅读Getting ready 板块的图文，了解单元话题。
学生观察教材第65页的卡通图，阅读Hi 和Lo 的对话，回答下列问题。
● What are Hi and Lo dong?(They are looking at giant pandas in the zoo.)
● What are the pandas eating? （They are eating bamboo.）
● What does Hi say “Pandas like old films”? (Because pandas are black and white and old films only have these two colours.)
学生根据卡通图描述熊猫的外形特征。教师指出 There are black patches around pandas′eyes。学生认识单词patch。
Step 2 开展有关大熊猫的知识小测试，引入主阅读篇章，引导并训练相关阅读技巧。
学生两人一组，根据自己已有的知识完成What do you know about…? 部分的练习。
学生浏览主阅读篇章的标题，小标题和左上方的文字，并观察插图，然后完成下面的练习。学生认读和理解单词file, population, behaviour。

3. 教师引入Strategy 部分的内容。学生找读主阅读篇章，结合各个小标题下的具体内容，完成Before you read 部分的练习，同时核查自己在What do you know…? 部分的答案是否正确，并在主阅读篇章中找出相关的依据。 学生认读和理解单词adult, weight, kilogram。
Step 3 阅读主阅读篇章，根据上下文语境猜测词义，并继续学习主阅读篇章中的单词和短语。
教师告诉学生;Pandas are endangered animals, 并板书endangered animals, 请学生猜测其含义。学生认识单词endangered。
教师指出：There are not many giant pandas living in the wild because there is not enough food for them. 学生猜测wild 的含义并认读和理解单词wild 和短语in the wild.
学生运用通过上下文语境猜测词义的方法完成Vocabulary 部分的练习C1，初步为阅读主阅读篇章扫清词汇障碍。学生认读和理解单词birth, shoulder, central 和短语at birth.
学生完成Vocabulary 部分的练习C2.
Step 4 完成Comprehension 部分的练习。
学生完成Comprehension 部分的练习D1.教师鼓励学生在阅读完短文后，先凭记忆作答。在完成练习后，再回到原文中寻找相关信息并核对答案。学生认读和理解单词fur.
回家作业：
模仿录音的语音，语调，朗读课文。
抄写单词和短语：endangered, file, giant panda, wild, bamboo, adult, weight, kilogram, population, behaviour, birth, patch, shoulder, central, menu, fur; in the wild, at birth.
完成下列有关大熊猫的表格。
