四、Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Share a storybook about outdoor fun with students to arouse students’ interest.
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Talk about some pictures in the story to present some new words and expressions.
2. Make a prediction based on the title---Down the rabbit hole.
Who fell down the rabbit hole?
When/Where/How/Why did she fall down the rabbit hole?
What happened after she fell down the rabbit hole?
Step 3 While-reading
1. Fast reading
1) Find out the right place for each picture and put them in the right order.
2) Match the paragraphs with the right places.
2. Careful reading
1) Read para.1-2 (by the river) with the following questions to get more detailed information.
2) Retell this part with some key words or expressions.
3) Ask students if there is anything special about the rabbit and what they will do if they see such an amazing rabbit.
4) Read para.3 (in the field) to find out what Alice did after seeing the amazing rabbit.
5) Retell this part with some key words or expressions.
6) Listen & watch the video about para.4-5 (in the hall) and underline the verbs for Alice’s actions.
7) Retell this part according to the verbs and pictures.
8) Ask students if Alice meet any problems in the hall and read the sentences with feelings to feel Alice’s different emotions.
Step 4 Post-reading
Work in groups of four and try to retell the story.
Ask students what they think of Alice.
Step 5 Summary
Alice is curious, brave and careful, so she found her wonderland in the story. In fact, everybody has a dream world, if you are curious, brave and careful, maybe someday, you can find your wonderland in your life!
