Show some pictures of kites.talk about them: what does it look like?

Step 2. listening

Present the pictures in Part A1.

Ask them to guess whose kites these are?

Play the tape for students to finish A1

Check the answers by questions: whose kite looks like a bird?

What does Simon’s kite look like?

Step 3 .the history of kites

Ask students if they know the history of kite

Present the questions for them to think about

1. Which country were kites born?

2. Who made the first kite in China?

3. What did the first kite look like?

4. What did he use to make the first kite?

5. How did kites become famous all over the world?

Present some important people in history:

Mozi LuBan CaiLun Marco Polo

Ask students to listen to Mr Wu and try to finish A2

Check the answers by reading the sentences

Step 4 listening and writing

Ask students to retell the history of kites,present A3,if they can finish the article, if necessary,play the tape again for them to complete the passage.

Check the answers by asking students to read aloud.

Students practise reading the passage together

Pay attention to some phrases

Step 5 speak up

Tell them Amy and her cousin Shirley are going for a picnic. They’re very excited. What are they going to do and what do they need to take? Can you give them some advice?

Show them a mobile phone, ask students if it is important
