Kites flying became a very popular outdoor activity.

III. Analysis of students:

Students in Grade 7 are not so good at listening of target language with some listening skills, such as shorthand skills and prediction, so they should be taught some listening skills about how to predict the information and how to write down useful information quickly and correctly. After learning period 1-3, students mastered some expressions about outdoor activities. But they don’t know how to talk about a whole-scale topic of a day out, so I will show them how to talk about a day out.

V. Teaching procedures:

A. Chinese kites

Step 1: Lead-in

Free talk

What outdoor activity would you like to try?

Can you guess what outdoor activity I would like to try?

(设计意图: 复习前三节学习过的“户外活动”的表达,让学生有话可说;让学生猜测老师想要尝试的户外活动,引出“风筝”这一主题。)

Step 2: Presentation

Tell students why I would like to try kite-flying.

T: I love kites because kites have many beautiful shapes and they look like different things.

Show students pictures of kites in different shapes.

Talk about different shapes of kites together.

(设计意图: 引出风筝外形这一话题,为A1作铺垫。)

Step 3: Listening (A1)

Listen and write.

T: Here are some nice kites. Let’s listen to the tape and know about whose kites are these. We need to write down the names under the kites.

Learn some tips to write something quickly while listening.

Step 4 :Presentation (famous people in the history of kites)

Show pictures of the four famous people.

Talk about what the poor people did in history and learn some new words (period, dynasty, century, wood etc.)
