Step One: Lead-in
Lead students to the topic of the class by showing them some sentences from some literary works they have read.
1) Where do you read these sentences?
2) What do these sentences have in common?
Each of them has one or two prepositions.
Step Two: Presentation
Students look at the pictures and learn the prepositions of place.
Step Three: Practice
1. Play a game
Students look at the props and try to find the correct prepositions.
2. Students try to make up sentences to describe things and students around them with prepositions of place.
3. Pair work
Students make up a dialogue about where their classroom is and present it to the class.
Step Four: Consolidation
1. Students finish the exercises in the textbook and some exams.
2. Students discuss in groups and finish a gap-filling exercise from The Fisherman and His Soul.
3. Students read a passage from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and underline the prepositions of place in it.
Step Five: Improvisation
Students draw pictures and write passages about their dream bedrooms, and present them to the class.
Step Six: Homework
Students polish their articles and find some good uses of prepositions in literary works.
