Step one : warm-up and lead in (about 3-5mins)

Activity 1: Brainstorm Questions (about 1mins)

T : Boys and girls, what is it? (The teacher hold a Rubik’s cube in hand.)Do you know how to play it? Are you good at it?

Activity 2: watch a short video (about 1-2 mins)

T: What do you think of the boy? (Clever; Smart)

What do you think of the result? (Amazing)

Activity 3: free talk (about 2mins)

T: The world is full of amazing things. Do you know anything amazing?

Design purpose: firstly, to set up a real language environment, and also to vivify the students and create a relaxing atmosphere and arouse the students’ interest in amazing things, then lead in some new words to pave the way for the following activities.

Step two: talk about amazing things around us (about 5 mins)

Activity 1: Look at some pictures and ask students a question: what do you think of it?

Objects: two small mobile phone models, a real mobile phone, a large cube, a very small cube

(Present: be the same size, two times larger than)

Picture 2: Baby pandas (only 100 grams at birth)

Picture 3: A heart (Our heart keeps working from birth.)

Picture 4: A boy is sneezing. (People sneeze with their eyes closed.) Here teachers can ask students “Can you sneeze with your eyes open? Have a try!”

Design purpose: To help the students be engaged in the language environment, at the same time encourage them to use what they have learned to talk about these amazing things. Then to learn some new words. Besides, to learn more from these amazing things and express their feelings for these amazing things..

Step three: fun facts (about 5 mins)

Activity 1: talk about fun facts (amazing people/news/nature/animals)
