教学过程
Step 1 . Lead-in and Presentation
Show a download video about amazing fish and ask a question “How many fish are there in the video?” to lead in today’s lesson.
The world is full of amazing things. Can you tell me some amazing things?
Look at the first picture in Part A and ask : What can you see in the picture? ( The Sun and Earth.) Which one is larger, the Sun or the Earth? Get students to find and understand the sentence: The Sun is about 1,300,000 times larger than the Earth.
There are more sentences about amazing things. Please read them in pairs and find the new words. (Present “same, birth, and stop growing”.)
Step2 . Practice
Match the pictures with the sentences in Part A first, then practise reading the sentences by yourselves.
Ask students: Can you tell me some amazing about elephants/the Earth human beings fish?
Step 3 . Extension (amazing animals)
I know every one of you likes animals. Some of you have pets in your family. There are also something amazing about animals. Listen to my questions and fond out which animal it is.
Step 4 . Listening and practice
Kitty and Amy are talking about the fun facts in Part A. listen to their conversation and tell me which picture they’re talking about and what they think of the facts.
(Ask a student to give the answer: They are talking about Pictures 1 and 4. they think they’re interesting and amazing.)
Students listen to the conversation and repeat after the recorder.
Students read and act out the conversation in pairs.
Step 5 . Show time
Communicate with some students like this:
T: Do you remember any interesting facts about elephants?
S: Yes,. there are no bones in the back of their feet--only fat.
T: Isn’t that interesting?
Get students to talk about some amazing things in pairs or groups, using Kitty and Amy’s conversation as a model.
Step 6 . presentation
Show the picture of a UFO. Ask: When you see a UFO, how do you feel?
Present new words “bright, light”.
