Task-based Language Teaching; Communicate Language Teaching
Teaching procedures:
Step1. Lead-in
Show Ss a video of an alien called Paul and lead in today’s topic –amazing things.
Ask Ss questions about Paul:
How do you feel when you see Paul? (Ss learn some words about different feelings.)
How does he get to the Earth? (By UFO)
Step2 Comic Strip
Eddie finds something interesting in the sky. Do you know what it is? Show Ss the pictures and play the tape for them
(Ss listen to the tape and take notes when it is necessary.)
Ss answer the questions according to the listening materials and read after the tape
Ask Ss to and practise the dialogue, then match the voice with flash..
Step3. Presentation
Show Ss some pictures of books and let them choose their favourite one to read about the fun facts
(Ss learn the fun facts about fish/elephants/ people/the Earth;
Ss learn how to use the key phrases in real situation.)
1) The Sun is about 1,300,000 times larger than the Earth.
2) Fish sleep with their eyes open. (with 作伴随状语结构)
3) Our eyes are the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing.(区分stop to do/stop doing)
4) There are no bones in the back of elephants’ feet---only fat.
2. Ask Ss to match the pictures with the sentences in PartA
3. Ss read the sentences and fill in the blanks about all the four facts.
(Ss learn to use the exact language to describe the fun facts. )
Step4 Practice
Play a guessing game and help Ss know more amazing things in the world. (Ss work in groups)
Help Ss to remember all the fun facts in an interesting way. (Ss can retell some of the amazing things)
Amy and Kitty are talking about the amazing thing on the Internet.
Ss read the dialogue and pay attention to the way about how to talk about amazing things and how to express their feelings.
