Teaching emphasis and predicted difficulties:

1. Master more expressions of jobs and working places;

2. Master two listening skills: to predict the answers before listening and how to take notes while listening;

3.Talk about your future jobs with simple future tense and give several reasons if you can.

Teaching contents:

There are 18 words, including 15 nouns, 2 adjectives and 1 verb. They are related to the topic of job or workplace.

词组:by train/ bus/ ship/ bike

句型:What are you going to be in the future?

I’m going to be a computer engineer.

Teaching strategies:Task-based Teaching Method and Situational Teaching Method

Teaching aids: PPT, projector, chalk and blackboard

Teaching procedures:

Step I: Warm-up ( 6 minutes)

Play a guessing game: read the descriptions of different jobs and working places, and ask “what is he/she?”,or“what is his/her job?”,or “what does he/she do?”.

(1)He makes delicious food for customers in the restaurant. (cook)

(2) He /She serves customers food at their table. (waiter/waitress)

(3)He runs the whole restaurant. All the workers work for him. (manager)

(4)When you are sick, you go to the hospital. He will treat you. (doctor)

(5)She is always kind and patient. When you are ill, she will look after you. (nurse)

(6)He has special skills, such as making ships, planes, fixing machines. He usually works in a factory. (engineer)

(7)She works in the office of a company. She has to work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. (office worker)

2. At the same time, teach the new words manager, office worker, sick, company. Make the students understand that different people work in different places.

【Purpose】A series of guessing games warm up the whole class and make students relaxed and arouse their interest. Through reviewing the vocabulary of welcome: waiter/waitress, restaurant, doctor, nurse, engineer, let students understand that different people work in different places. After learning the new words, students will find it easier to do with the following listening exercises.
