I divided it into nine steps.
Step 1 Warm-up
Let the students play the word games. Use three activities from the smart notebook to revise the words and phrases in this unit. The first activity “Press the balloon” makes the students grasp the English and Chinese meanings of some important words. The second “Anagram game” aims to make students use English to explain English. The third activity “Tiles activity” helps students to remember some important phrases.
Purpose of designing: The activities are very interesting. They can draw the students’ interests and make an English learning circumstance happily.
Step 2 Presentation
Ask the students to listen to the reading part again and use one sentence to conclude the main idea of each paragraph. It aims to arouse the students’ memory of the future life in 2050 and prepare for the following writing.
Step 3 Brainstorm
Let the students look at some pictures and use the comparison strategy to describe the changes of housing, transportation and clothing. Some students can make several sentences and some students can use some phrases. In this way, students can learn how to compare.
Step 4 Oral composition
Show some pictures and ask the students to talk about the ways people live in the 1940s and now.
Step 5 Making an outline
Choose the first topic “The way people keep in touch with each other”, give some key words and then let the students try to make an outline. Then show them the outline as an example.
