Step 1 Presentation
1. Guide Ss to revise the sentences in Reading and say: please read the following sentences and pay attention to the verbs ending in the letters –ed.
(1) They turned around.
(2) “What happened?” Andy asked.
(3) Andy helped me with my English.
(4) He stood beside the tree and shouted “Help! Help!”
(5) Andy picked up the little cat.
Play the tape in Part A and guide Ss to imitate them after the tape. Listen to the tape and pay attention to the endings. Then read them out loud. Ask Ss: When we read the verbs with –ed endings, how many ways are there to pronounce them?And then ask Ss to summarize the three kinds of pronunciation
