Step 3 While-reading
1. Skimming
Let the students skim the article and answer the following two questions:
How many paragraphs are there in the text?
How many people are mentioned in the text?
Who are they?
2. Scanning
Ask the students to read and finish Part B1.
3. Detailed-reading
1)Let students read Paragraph 1-2,and answer the following questions:
(1) Where and when does the story happen?
(2)What were Millie and Amy doing in the park?
2) Enable the students to read Paragraph 3-5and finish Part B2.
3) Show the students pictures of the story on the screen and encourage the students to match them as quickly as they can, getting ready for retelling.
Step 4 Post-reading
1. Show the class the pictures of the story on the screen and help them retell the whole story.
2. Encourage some individuals to say something about the story in front of the class.
3. If you see such a weak cat, what will you do with it ?
Talk about fun facts in the world.
Understand the meanings of some new words.
Read the article and find out the structure of the article.
Scan the text and finish Part B1.
Complete different tasks to have a deeper understanding
of the text.
