Step 1: Lead in
Show students a short video: In my home
Let Ss watch a short video, and answer the questions:
What is the video about? What kinds of rooms are in the house?
Free talk
Ask some Ss to answer:What is your favorite place in your home?
3. Guess whose house it is: Present three sentences of the houses of the three students, let Ss guess whose house it is.
(1) I can sit on the balcony and look out at the beach and the sea. (Stephen)
(2) I live in a flat. I share a bedroom with my sister. (Anna)
(3) I live in a big house near London. I always have fun with my dog in the garden. (Neil)
Step 2: Presentation
Present the different parts of a house and the things in them. Teach the new words.
Read aloud the new words: fork, fridge (refrigerator), knife (pl. knives), lamp, shower, sofa, video, be full of, of one’s own, some day.
Step 3: Practice
1. Finish part A1: write the names of the places from Neil’s video on P13.
2. Finish part A2: Help Simon label the things in part A1 with the new words in the box in Part A2.
Ask some Ss to answer: There is/ are … in the…
Step 4: Listening
Listen to the tape and put the pictures in the correct order. Write the numbers 1-6 in the boxes in Part A1 on P13.
Listen to Neil telling more about his house. Play a game: Hot Chair.
Finish the “T” or “F” questions.
Step 5: Presentation
After watching Neil’s video, Simon sent an e-mail to Neil.
