Step1. Lead-in

Watch a cartoon “Pleasant Goat and Big big wolf ”

T:Do you like them ? Do you think they are good neighbours ? Why or Why not?

Step 2. Pre-reading

1.T: I’m very lucky to have many good neighbours. They have different skills and can do many different things. They’re also very helpful. When they’re free, they often go to the community centre to help others.

Write ‘lucky skills helpful community centre’ on the blackboard and read these new words.

Present the picture of college students , tell Ss they are volunteers.When they are free,they often go to the community centre to help others .(They often help children with their homework ,they often fix some broken things,they often visit the old people and so on.)

Read new words in groups.

Step 3.While-reading

T: Would you like to be a volunteer like this to help others ? If you want ,you need to do a five-level test, after you pass it ,you will be a volunteer.

Level 1 Read the dialogue quickly and answer the question.

What does Simon’s community center have at the weekend?
