IV. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in
T: Look at the screen. How do you feel?
1. Are there any ghosts in the world?
2. Are you afraid of ghosts?
3. Do you like reading ghost stories?
Step 2 Presentation
1. Read and guess.
T: Today let’s share a ghost story. First, read the title, look at the picture and answer the following questions:
(1) Where did the story happen?
(2) Who might see the ghost?
(3) How did they feel?
2. Fast reading.
T: Look through the story quickly and silently, and tell me: What was the ghost in Sunshine Park?
3. Difficult words.
T: Read the story silently again and circle the words you don’t understand.
T: Here are some words in the story. Find the meaning of each word by circling the correct letter.
4. Further reading.
T: Read the story with your partner. Try to divide the story into three parts and discuss the main idea of each part with your partner.
5. Detail reading.
T: Read the first part. Ask and answer in pairs according to the table on the screen.
T: How did Andy search for the cat? Read the second part by yourselves loudly and try to fill in the blanks with some verb phrases.
T: Read the third part in groups of four and try to guess what questions I will ask. Close your books and let me see who has a good memory.
