Step 1 Lead in:
Welcome to story world. Today I will tell you a terrible story happened at 10 p.m. last night.
Step 2 Presentation:
Tell a story.
Show some sentences about past continuous tense:
I was reading at 10 p.m. last night.
I was sleeping then.
My mother and I were watching TV at home at 10 p.m. last night.
the basic form of past continuous tense: was/ were (not) doing and the transform of it.
Step 3 Practice
Ask the students the question “What were you doing at 10 p.m. last night?” to practice the past continuous tense.
Do more exercises.
Step 4 Production:
Work in groups of four and talk about who you think is the real thief.
Ask some group members to share their ideas and tell the reasons.
Step 5 Homework:
1. Review past continuous tense;
2. Do some translations by using the past continuous tense;
