T: Natural disasters are terrible. And accidents are also terrible.

Present some pictures to help students to learn some new words.
T: Show a picture of a traffic accident, ask “What’s happing?” So we should follow traffic rules. Help them learn the new word “rule”. Then help them learn the other new words like this. The new words: railway, on fire, wet towel, as soon as possible, burn.

I. Pre-listening
Natural disasters and accidents are terrible. If they happen, which telephone numbers should you dial in the following situations?
Present some dangers in our daily life e.g. an earthquake ,a fire ,a car accident, etc.
Ask the students finish A1, check the answers in A1: 110 — Police 119 — Fire
120 — Hospital 122 — Traffic
Offer other telephone numbers.

II. Pre-listening
The students are attending a talk called “Away from danger”. Listen to the talk and help Simon complete his notes on Page99.
T: Here are some tips for listening.
1: Predict(预测) before listening
2: Try to catch the main ideas for the first time.
T: We are going to have a talk called Away from danger. It’s necessary for us to take some notes. Let’s read the form and see if we know some before listening.
1. Listen and complete the notes, finish A2.
2. Listen again and fill in the blanks in A3.Ask different students to read and show the answers.
