Step 1 Lead-in
Look at some pictures of disasters and accidents.
T: Please look at these pictures. Can you tell me what happened?
T: Yes, a car accident, a lighting, a big fire, an earthquake and a sudden heart attack. From these pictures, we know that danger is around us, so we must learn how to protect ourselves. So can you tell me how can be away from danger?
S: We can call for help.
T: Yes, you are very smart. One good way to protect ourselves is to dial for help. But we need to know the right numbers first, right?

1. Know some more important phone numbers
T: Do you know what 911 is for? It is a number in the USA. If something bad happens, you can dial 911 for help. There is only one emergency phone number in America to call for all emergencies, 911. But in China, we have 120 for hospital and 119 for fire.
T: Do you know what are 120 and 122 used for? Now I think it’s easy for you to match the phone numbers with the right pictures, please finish A1.
2. Pair work
T: Can you say something or make a dialogue about each picture? Here is an example for you.
A: Look, the building is on fire!
B: Don’t worry about that. Let’s dial 119 for help.
3. Listen and finish A2
T: We are going to have a talk called Away from danger. It’s necessary for us to take some notes. Let’s read the form and see if we know some before listening.
4. Listen again and fill in the blanks in A3

6. Group work
