2. Talk about favourite animals and give reasons.

Teaching procedures

Step 1 Lead-in

Teacher show a story of Danny, an elephant, to students and ask Ss how they feel after they watch the story and how can we help them.

Step 2 Presentation

1. Present the names of wild animals

(1) Show an video of wild animals

T: They are wild animals and can you tell me what have you seen in the video?

(2) Read the names of the wild animals after the teacher

Ask the students to read these new words and phrases after the teacher for three times. Make sure all the students can read the names correctly. .

(3) A competition: learn English, save animals . Student who give the right answer will save a animal ( it is an animal card) .Finish Part A on Page57.

(4) Play a guessing game

T: As we were very happy just now. Let's play a guessing game. I will show some descriptions of the animals and if you know the answer, put up your hand as quickly as you can.

Zebra: .a wild animal like a horse,with black and white lines on its body

Elephant:a wild animal that has a long nose and teeth

Tiger: a kind of wild animal that looks like a cat.He is Mr King

Giant Panda:It is black and white. It likes eating bamboo and leaves.

Giraffe;a wild animal that has a very long neck

Squirrel: This wild animal lives in the trees and likes eating pinecone(松果) .

Dolphin: I’m friendly and clever. I like playing balls and dancing in the sea. Who am I?

2. Present the dialogue

(1) Listen to the dialogue and answer the question.

T: Millie and her classmates are talking about their favourite wild animals. Let's listen to their conversation and then try to answer the question: (play the recording of part B)

1.What is Kitty’s favourite wild animal?

2.What are the kings of animal world?

(2) Get the students to read the dialogue together or in roles.

(3) Make up dialogues.

T: We have learned many kinds of wild animals. Can you tell me which wild animal you like best ? let’s read some dialogues first. Then get the students to talk about their favourite wild animals. Use the following model to make dialogue.

A: Which animal do you like best?

B: I like …best.
