Step 1 Lead-in

Show pictures of wild animals. Ask students to name the animals one by one.

elephant/ dolphin/ squirrel/ giant panda/ tiger/ wolf/ zebra/ monkey

Ask students to talk about their favourite wild animals and pretend to be their favourite wild animals.

Step 2 Pracice

Ask students to choose a short video about their favourite wild animals to watch and find out specific characteristics: appearance, abilities, eating habits and danger they face.

Ask students to make a written newspaper with the information they’ve learnt to introduce their favourite wild animals.

Get students to take a photo of their works and send the potos.

Choose four of students’ works to share with everybody. Ask students to vote for their favourite work.

Get the student that gets the most votes to come to the front and introduce his/her favourite wild animal to the class.

Step 3 Oral work

1. Get students to stand around the tables and make four onion rings. Ask them to share their works with others and make up a conversation about their favourite wild animals.

2. Get students to move location and make up dialogues again.

Step 4 Listening & Watching

1. Get students to listen to a report about giant pandas and repeat after the recording through the app on their tablets.

2. Ask students to retell what they’ve learnt about giant pandas from the recording.

3. Get students to watch a video about the top 10 endangered wild animals in the world.

Step 5 Discussion

What can we do to help the wild animals in danger?

Please discuss the topic in groups. Write down your ideas. Give pieces of advice.

Step 6 Summary

T: In order to get what they want from wild animals, hunters have killed too many of them. If people don’t buy the things made from endangered animals, the wild animals won’t face the danger of extinction(灭绝). Buying leads to death. Hunters are killers while buyers are accessories(帮凶) to the killing. Remember that no buying, no killing.

IV. Homework

Write a report to advise people to protect wild animals in danger.
