Step 1. Lead-in

Watch a set of pictures and a video about earthquake.

Step 2. Pre-reading

Learning new words and phrases —shake, bomb, scream, in fear, in all directions, come down, etc.

Match the words on the left with the meanings on the right.

Step3. While-reading

skimming --- catch the main idea of this text

Answer two questions through reading in silence.

A. Let’s watch the video to learn the details.

B. Each group of students read in turn paragraph by paragraph.

Paragraph 1 ---- Read paragraph 1 loudly and complete the table.

Paragraph 2 ----Read Paragraph 2 in silence and complete the passage.

Paragraph 3 ----Choose the best answer.

Paragraph 4-5----Read Paragraph 4-5 silently and answer some questions.

Step4. After- reading

Two challenges:

Pair-work ---- Love box

group-work ----a discussion: If there would be an earthquake, what should we do to keep ourselves safe?
