Step 1. Pre-writing
1. Lead-in Present a poem about school
Show learning aims
2. Presentation
Compare Nancy’s school with John’s school and learn about what British school and American school are like.
3. Discuss about Daniel’s ideal school
1). Listening Listen to Daniel’s article about his ideal school and answer the question.
2). Reading
Fast reading: Ask students to tell me what each paragraph is about.
Detailed reading: Ask students to read in details and catch the detailed information.
3). Retelling Ask students to retell Daniel’s ideal school.
4. Speaking
Talk about your own school:
1). Ask students to discuss the questionnaire on Page 28.
2). Guide the students to imagine what their own ideal schools are like.
Step 2. While-writing
1. Talk about the structure, content, useful expressions and transitions of the article.
2. Ask each student to choose one paragraph to write about their ideal schools.
3. Show the evaluation table while writing your own ideal school.
Step 3 Post-writing
1. Share and evaluate some students’ written work.
2. Have a summary
Step4 . Homework
1. Write the whole article after school.
2. Self-edit your own writing according to the writing evaluation table.
3. After self-editing, rewrite your drafts.
