Activity One Grammar A
Step 1 Lead-in
We use as…as to say that people or things are the same in some ways. We use “not as/so… as to say that people or things are not the same in some ways.(Ss look through the example sentences on P 35 quickly)
Step 2 Learn about “as…as” and “not as/so… as” in detail
表示甲、乙双方在性质、程度、特征等方面相同时,用“as + adj./adv. 原级+ as”结构,意为“和……一样”。如:
This film is as interesting as that one.这部电影和那部电影一样有趣。
表示甲在某方面不如乙时,用“not as/so + adj./adv. 原级+ as”结构,意为“在某方面不如……”。如:
This film isn’t as interesting as that one.这部电影没有那部电影有趣。
注意:1) as...as表示同级比较,使用时要注意第一个as为副词,第二个as为连词。
2) “not as/so…as”和adj./adv.的比较级可进行转换。如:
This film isn’t as interesting as that one.= This film is more boring than that one.
= That film is more interesting than this one.
Step 3 Practise
1. Ss use “as…as” and “not as/so… as” to make sentences.
2. Finish exercises on P 35
Linda is sending some pictures to her parents by email. Complete her sentences under each picture with as… as or not as/so… as.

Step 1 Lead-in

Conclusion:We use reflexive pronouns when_________ and ________are the same person.
