Step1.
(show the poster and ask students to extract the key information.
To the students, I'll say; When I’m free, l like watching ball games. Basketball is my favorite sport. I think the final is usually the most exciting. Have you ever watched the final of a basketball match? Show a video: This is the final of a basketball competition. Beijing Sunshine Middle School goes to the final. We are going to watch it, but I’m not sure of the time, the place and the price of the trip. Would you please help me find some information about it?
(ask students to go through the poster on page37 A1 for specific information,and answer the questions I raise.
Which team gets to the final ?Sunshine Middle School.
When is the final?On____,17October.
Where is the final?At the________in Moonlight Town.
What can we do?Come and cheer for our team!Don’t forget to bring your friends.
(Ask students to pay attention to “on” and “at”before they listen to the recording.Play the recording and ask students to fill in the blanks. And correct answers.
This part I should teach students how to get useful information from the poster and listen to the related details according to some key words.
Step2.
Guys.We all read the poster,will you support them? I decide to watch their final,here is my plan.
(Show students the table of PartA2 and lead them to guess the answer related to wher
(play the recording twice, ask the students to try their best to fill in the blanks with as much information as they can. and help students get the correct answers.
(After get all the answers,add two questions:
1.How long is the Half-time? It’s about 10 minutes.
2.What can we do during the Half-time?We can buy food and drinks in the coffee shop.
In this part,I help students to complete the timetable for an activity according to the related information. Teach them some skills for listening and extract some information for finishing PartA3 better.
④tell students Kitty make some notes about the final but she made some mistakes,we need to tell true or false in Part A3 on page 38.(It may be hard for the less able students ,play the recording again if necessary)
