1.Prediction: Look at the picture, and discuss in groups and tell me what happened to him. (From five elements: who, when, where, what and why?)

Step 3 While-reading:

Reading Para1:

Qs before reading: Why is he sleeping? Why is he on the beach? (Read with purposes)

Read and answer:

① What did Gulliver do after their ship crashed against the rocks?

② Why did Gulliver fall down on the beach?

Reading para.2:

Qs before reading: If you swim for a very long time, how long will you sleep? What about Gulliver?

Read and do the T or F

Imagination (discussion):

If you were Gulliver, you found you are tied to ground. How will you feel and what will you do?

Read with emotion:

Will you be surprised? So, can you read para2 with emotion?

Reading para.3:

Qs before reading: If I were Gulliver, I would be very afraid and I want to know who did it? Do you want to know who did it?

Read and answer: Q: Who is coming? How big was the small man? Do you think this sentence can help you imagine.

Imagination (discussion): If you meet such a small man, what will you say to him?

Read with emotion: Can you read para3 with surprise for us?

Reading para4:

Qs before reading: If you are Gulliver, you see so many tiny men around you. What do you feel? How about Gulliver?

Read and answer: Q: ①Why did the tiny men fall over? ②Why did Gulliver shout at them? ③Why didn’t they care about Gulliver’s shouting? ④What do you think of the tiny men?

Reading para.5:

Qs before reading: All of us have so many questions to ask Gulliver. What about the tiny men and what did they do?

Read and fill the chart. (If you can’t fill in the chart, please say it in two sentences. The tiny men…but Gulliver couldn’t …)

Can you guess if Gulliver could run away at last? If Gulliver could run away, how did he do it? If Gulliver couldn’t run away, what could happen? ②Could Gulliver understand the tiny men? So, in our daily life, if we can’t understand each other, what will happen?

Step 4 After-reading:

1. Invite two students to come to the front to act as Gulliver and tiny men, the rest try to say the actions out.

2. Discussion:

What do you think of Gulliver? (I think Gulliver was…because he…)What can we learn from Gulliver?
