T: Do you like reading boos? What type of books do you like reading? Today let’s share four good books.
T: First, we talk about two books we have learned. Next, we share another two books. We use “first” and “next” to show order. These words are transitions.

What is a transition?
Show sentences and tell students that transitions are the bridges that allow a reader to move from one idea to the next without getting lost in the language. In writing, a transition is a word, phrase or sentence.
2. Introduce different types of transitions by reading sentences in the four books
(1) Connect the sentences by adding transitional words.

Transitions can be used to show time and sequence, to add information, to give an example, to show cause and effect, to emphasize, to compare and contrast.
