Step 1 Lead-in
Enjoy a video about places of interest to lead into the title: Around the world in Eight Hours.
Step 2 Pre-travelling
Introduce the website and the tour guide.
Listen to the guide and learn how to start a tour.
Lead into New York and let students share their opinions about it.
Step 3 While-travelling
Fast-reading:
Look through the text quickly and answer two questions:
What places are mentioned? Where are they ?
Careful-reading:
Introduce the four places from one to another and in different ways.
Listen to Para 3 and answer questions.
Read Para 4 and guess the meanings of the new words, then answer questions and enjoy a video about the huge glass ball.
Ask one student to read Para 5 and let students complete the table, then have creative thinking.
Read Para 6 by themselves and answer the questions ,then enjoy the song “Memory”.
Step 4 Post-travelling
1. Two activities: Be a visitor & Be a guide
2. Read the last paragraph and learn how to start a new tour.
3. Moral education:
the advantages of travelling online and travelling outside.
Step 5 Homework
1. Read the text after the tape and recite the new words.
