I like reading novels and plays.
The story of the ugly man Quasimodo really touched me.
Ability goals:
Learn about the English expressions of different kinds to books.
Talk about their favourite books and give the reasons.
Emotional goals:
Arouse the students’ interest in reading.
Important areas in teaching:
Students can talk about their favourite books in English .
Teaching procedures :
Step I . Lead-in
First enjoy a short video of film “ Cinderella ”with the Ss . Tell them that it comes from a fairy story collected in the famous book “Grimm's Fairy Tales”. Say , it’s a good read through our childhood .
Step II . Presentation
Talk about my hobby by showing them some pictures , and teach some new words at the same time .
Step III Practice .
Task 1 . Show some pictures of famous books to them , lead them to talk something about the books . Ask them some questions :
Eg, “Have you ever read it ?”“ Who is the writer ? ”
“Who is the main character in this book ?”“What does it talk about ? ”
Then let the Ss tchoose one of these books if they like and try to talk about it .
Task 2 . What type of book is it ?
First teach the Ss how to divide the books into different types .
Then ask the Ss to finish Part A1 and check the answers .
After that , invite some Ss to talk about their favourite type of books .
Step IV. Listening ( Task 3 )
First tell the Ss that I love reading novels best , then talk something about “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” , ask them to listen to the conversation between Sandy and Daniel , try to answer the questions .
What’s Daniel’s favourite type of book ? Why ?
What is he reading now ?
What does Sandy like to read ?
