Step1 Lead-in
Let’s enjoy a video!
Present a video of Peppa Pig named “The library”, ask students question “what can you see from the video”, then lead students to think “what does Eddie use books to do”?
Step2 Comic strip
Task1 Listen and answer
First, listen to the tape, and answer the following questions
Has Hobo decided what to do with the books?
Does Eddie really love reading?
What did Eddie use the books to do?
Task2 Read the dialogue and act it out.
Step3 Lead-in
First, make a situational story: I went to Jinling Library with other teachers in our class, some teachers bought their favourite book. Let’s guess what kind of type did they buy?
Then, ask students to choose one of the teacher’s name, and I will lead students to guess the type with the different methods, such as pictures, key words, audio, video and so on. Then, I present six kinds of types of books.
Step4 Welcome to the unit A
Task1 Write the type of book on P49
Task2 Ask students to find more types of books.
Task3 Ask students the question “Among all the types of books, what is your favourite type of book? And tell me the reasons”.
Step5 Welcome to the unit B
Task1.Listen and answer.
First, ask students to listen to the tape carefully, and answer the following questions:
1. What is Daniel’s favourite type of book? Why does he like it?
2. What is Sandy’s favourite book?
Then, I will give a brief introduction of Sandy's favourite book The hunchback of Notre Dame
Task2.Read for more details
Lead students to find the information about Daniel’s and Sandy’s, then complete the table.
Task3. Do a survey with partners or teachers
Design a paper survey, divide students into groups of four, and ask each group to talk with each other, another two students to interview our teachers, then, write down the information you interviewed on the paper, finally, I invite one or two students to make a short report.
