Step 1 Lead-in
Learn today’s proverb: Books are the ladder of human progress. and lead in this lesson. Introduce my reading habits and teach new words and phrases.
T: In my spare time, I like reading. I like to read different types of books, such as health, cooking and travel. I am especially interested in novels because some stories in the novels often touch me. Books help me improve my knowledge. I have just read a book The Hunchback of Notre Dame by the French writer Victor Hugo. It’s a book about the ugly man Quasimodo.

Part A : Show some pictures of different types of books. Write the type of book under each picture. Then put a tick in the box if you have read this type of book before.
