教学步骤
Step 1 Warming up and Leading in
Greet the students by asking some questions like What do you like doing in your free time? Do you like readindg? What type of book do you like reading? I am interested in readineg stories. Can you guess what kind of book is my favourite? ( Novels, such as Four Great Classical Novels.) Show pictures. Point out that my favourite is Journey to the West, which is very popular with Chinese people, especially children.
Step 2 Presentation
Recently I have read a book. It tells about a man who had several fantastic trips. During his trip he met many amazing people and things. His story has been made into a film. Do you want to know about that? Let’s go and see.
Step 3 Pre-reading
After enjoying the short video, ask students the questions about the novel:
What’s the name of the story?
Who is the writer?
Who is the main character in the novel?
What was his job ?
Which countries did he travel to?
Lilliput(小人国) B. Brobdingnag(大人国) C. Laputa(飞岛国) D. Houyhnhnms (智马国)
Show students picture in the text, ask What catches your eyes most in the picture?(The huge Gulliver and the small men)Then listen to the tape and fill the form.
Step4 While-reading
Task 1 Read Para1 -2 and anwer some questions.
Task2 Read Para3 and find out what happened to Gulliver.
Task3 Read Para4-5 and get to know Gulliver’s feeling.
Step5 Post-reading
Discussion:
If you were Gulliver, what would you do next?
