Step 1 Lead-in
1. An introduction to The Railway Children
(1) The teacher asks the students some questions about reading:
Do you like reading in your free time?/What kind of books would you like to read best?/...
(2) The teacher introduces the novel The Railway Children and its author to the students with the help of the cover of the book.
2. Watch and answer
The teacher shows students a video and asks: Who are the three children?
3. Read and answer
Students go through the instruction and the contents. The teacher asks: What can you guess from the contents?
Reading tip1: Better to read the cover, the instruction and the contents before your adventure.
