The status and function of the teaching material:
This period of lesson is the second one of this unit. It is a lesson about reading. It will cultivate students’ reading skills and know the custom and cultures of the UK.
Analysis of students:
Students in Junior 8 is between the age of 14 and 15 years old. They can’t remember and feel bored with dull presentation of languange points. They need the involvement in classroom activities and get the new knowledge in the process of practice. In that case, the teacher should create corresponding situations and give out tasks in different groups. The topic of this unit is also related to English everyday life,so it is easy for them to finish the tasks assigned by the teacher.

【导入】Step1: Warm-up
Show what people with good manners never do and always do in public
活动2【活动】Step2: Pre-reading:
Learn some new words about manners and get the students to know different countries have different manners.
活动3【活动】Step3: While-reading:
1. Watch the video and get to know the main idea of it.
2.Skim the interview as quickly as possible and discuss the main idea of each topic.
3. Read lines 1—6and talk about how do British people greet others
4.Read lines 7--9 and fill in the blanks .Then talk about the ways to start a conversation.
5. Listen to lines 10--26, and complete the table about British manners in public and at home. Then let the students practice in pairs about how they behave at home
