Emotion aims:
To help students know more about different manners and habits in different places.
To improve students’ manners in their daily lives.
Important points:
To review the usage of some important words and phrases like avoid, warn , cut in, in one’s way etc.
To consolidate the grammar rules in this unit:
adj./adv. +enough to… too adj./adv. to… (表否定) so adj./adv. that…
Difficulties:
To use correct phrases and sentences to talk about manners or introduce some good manners to others.
To develop students’ writing skills.
Teaching procedures
Step 1: Lead in——Host and guest
Students turn around and greet our “guests ” with a bow.
Change traditional class roles, the teacher will be the “host” while the students will be the “guests.” The host will treat the guests some special “food.”
Step 2: practice (小组得分制)
Open the menu and order some dishes. (The menu is the students’ learning cases.)
Appetizer: Group work (Many hands make light work!)
Find at most 20 important words they learnt in this unit.
State the reasons why they choose them.(按词性分类)
Main food: (Help themselves!)
Choose their favourite kind of main food and complete some accordingly exercises. (most of the language points and grammar rules in this unit are included)
Present some relevant sayings while they are doing exercises.
Dessert buffet: (No pain, no gain!)
Pick out 3 important exercises they’ve already made up in groups.
Choose another group to finish their exercises.
Choose some excellent exercises made up by the students and give high praise.
Step 3: Writing
——Good manners for guests (they’ve already finished writing after class)
Present the composition grade standards.
Students grade his/her deskmate’s composition.
