III. Teaching procedures

Step 1 Lead-in

1. Look at a video. ask and answer:

T: What can you see from the video? Ss: We can see……

What happened then? Ss: The policeman helped the elderly person cross the road…

2. Show a picture. Talk about helping others

T: Look at this picture, It’s me. What am I doing? Ss: a volunteer……

T:I helped them cross the road.. What about you? Have you ever been a volunteer?

How do you help others?(ask two students to tell their experiences)

Do you know who needs help?

Step 2 Presentation

Show some pictures of people who need help: blind, deaf, disabled, elderly, homeless, poor

T: What are disabled people?

A part of a person’s body does not work properly

What are blind people?

1: Discussion

In the daily life, there are a lot of people who need our help around us

T: How can we help them? (ask students to discuss)

Then give some ways to help people in need

3: Make up a dialogue (Here is a sample):

A: What are Blind(deaf….) people?
