2 To use proper words to talk about how to help the weakerTeaching preparationpptTeaching procedure:
Step 1 Warming up and Leading in
Show a group of pictures about the volunteers and ask:
Who are they? What are they doing?
Students answer they are volunteers.They usually do something for the people in need. They usually do something for people who need help.
Step 2 Presentation
Say:There’re many people who need our help around us. Look at the picture
Ask : What’s wrong with the man?
Guide the student to answer: He can’t walk.
Say: We call this man a disabled person. Teach disabled
a disabled person(a part of a person’s body does not work properly)
It’s difficult for disabled people to go upstairs. They can use a wheel chair to go out.
2 Ask: What’s wrong with the person?(Show Picture2)
Students answer: He can’t see anything.
Say: He is a person who can’t see , he’s a blind person. Teach blind
Ask: How can we help the blind?
Students answer: We can help them cross the road.
Ask : What else can we help them?(Show a picture of a guide dog)
We can train dogs as guides of blind people. Teach train
3 Ask: What’s wrong with the woman?(Show Picture3)
Strudents answer: She can’t hear.
Say: She’s a person who can’t hear. We call her a deaf perosn. Teach deaf.
Deaf people can talk with hand language.
So we can learn hand language to talk with blind people.
The same way with the new words homeless and elderly
Step3 Practice
1.Read the new word on the blackboard
2 Match the words with the meanings.
3 Check the answers. Encourage the students to say the whole sentence.
