Step one : warm-up and lead in(about 3mins)
Activity 1: Activity 1. Free talk---Brainstorm Questions
1) Let the students watch a withered plant.
Brainstorm Questions:
What’s your feeling of the withered plant when you see it for the first time?
When you take a close look at it, what can you see?(some new leaves)
What can you associate to our human beings after seeing the tough plant?
(T : We should be brave and strong)
Design purpose: firstly, to catch the students’ attention, and also to active the students and create a relaxing atmosphere and arouse the students’ interest in reading, more important is to let them know how to charge a person (inside but not outside)
Step two: Revision (about 25mins)
Activity 1: Let the students look through the passage quickly and try to get the general ideal of each paragraph.
Activity 2: Ask the students to conclude the three aspects that the writer wrote from (Students should conclude with the phrases given.)
(Further thinking: What’s the most important thing to be a volunteer?)
Activity 3: Tell the students analyze the changes of Liu Ming (Paragraph1,5)
(Further thinking: Ask the students to read the sentences with their real emotions)
Activity 4: Let the students talk about their experiences of being a volunteer
